Shiva Subramanya, Principal, CEM, M.S.M.E.
With over twenty years of broad experience in the energy industry, Shiva Subramanya is a seasoned energy executive. His experience in the energy industry includes technical development, product development, energy engineering, and project/construction management of many projects. A highly regarded energy professional, Shiva co-founded EPS Corporation and Enpowered Solutions and is a frequent speaker on wide ranging energy and environmental issues across the country and has published papers in the energy industry. Most recently Shiva was EVP-GM at Ameresco where he ran the energy efficiency and demand response business for Ameresco Intelligent Systems. His responsibilities included the development and design of the automated demand response business. His technical expertise include cogeneration, refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, central plants, and controls.
Shiva’s impressive experience also includes responsibility for the design of software to control building management system response to real-time pricing signals from utilities, the development of an enterprise energy management software, and automated demand response software for EPS Corp. He has also taught graduate level energy courses at Portland State University.
Shiva earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, is a Certified Energy Manager, and a member of ASHRAE, and the Association of Energy Engineers.
Staffan Akerstrom, Principal, P.E, CEM, CLEP, B.S.M.E.
With twenty years of experience in the energy industry Staffan Akerstrom has extensive experience in energy efficiency, power generation, renewables, and energy software-as-a-service. Staffan’s work has included program management, project development, operations management, project/construction management and product development. As a co-founder of EPS Corp he commercialized one of the first real-time sustainability software-as-a-service platforms and was most recently EVP-GM for the enterprise energy management business of Ameresco Intelligent Systems. He has developed multiple onsite generation projects of various technologies nationally, including biogas and natural gas fired IC engines, gas turbines, and also photovoltaic systems. His energy efficiency expertise includes HVAC, refrigeration, compressed air, steam, and hot water systems for both commercial and industrial facilities.
Staffan is a co-founder of Enpowered Solutions and has been an invited panel member in many energy and sustainability forums including the International Dairy Foods Association, Calit2 at UC Irvine, Pacific Region CHP Applications Center, and FMA. Staffan has been quoted in several publications such as Food Engineering and Distributed Energy on topics of sustainability, water management, distributed generation, and energy management. He has also served as a host of a Webcast discussing Energy Intelligence.
Staffan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a California Licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, and Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional.
Shea Dibble, Partner, Sr. Vice President
An experienced operations, demand-side management, energy regulatory and policy and strategic business development professional, Shea Dibble has over 20 years of experience in the energy and industrial/manufacturing market sectors. His 10-year career with the Sempra Energy utilities spanned several positions at Southern California Gas Company and later at San Diego Gas & Electric. As SDG&E’s Energy Programs Supervisor, Shea directed staff in the deployment and administration of integrated energy efficiency and demand response programs and was the non-residential lead for the development of the California Energy Commission’s legislated Long Term Strategic Plan.
Shea served as a Sempra Energy Utility HVAC Lead for California’s Statewide Long Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan, and the Western HVAC Performance Alliance (WHPA) Steering Committee. He is a co-Founder of the Western HVAC Performance Alliance and PerformanceAlliance.org. Most recently, Shea held the position of Associate Director of Business Development and later Associate Director of HVAC Program Operations for Portland Energy Conservation Inc. where he was responsible for strategic planning, client and customer care, program fulfillment and business development. He recently served as the Western HVAC Performance Alliance (WHPA) Co-Director and later as the WHPA’s Director of Regulatory and Policy.
Eric Spink, Partner, Sr. Vice President, B.S.M.E.
With over 20 years of experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, engineering and control systems, Eric Spink has an in-depth expertise in project development and design, and project and services management. He has over ten years of executive management experience as vice president of a large energy services company, president of a renewable energy and control system integration company, and vice president and chief operating officer for a general engineering contractor.
He was responsible for running an enterprise energy management’s services group that consisted of a team of professional engineers, energy engineers, and energy analysts responsible for meeting or exceeding customers’ long-term sustainability and energy reduction goals and ensuring customer satisfaction. He has extensive experience in photovoltaic system design and installation, and control system design, programming, and integration. He has broad expertise in big data analytics and possesses a solid awareness and comprehension of its correlation with strategic business interests and everyday operations.
Eric earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
Doug Chamberlin, Partner, Vice President, Energy Services, PE, LEED AP, CCP
Doug has over 30 years’ experience in the commissioning, energy engineering and project management fields. He has extensive expertise and is highly skilled in the development, analysis, design, implementation, and commissioning of new buildings, large integrated control systems, HVAC systems, cogeneration systems, renewable energy sources and waste heat recovery. Mr. Chamberlin also has extensive project management expertise. He has developed and managed high-performance teams in the installation and commissioning of large construction projects and prepared and construction documents for the execution of complex energy-efficiency projects. In addition, Mr. Chamberlin is an effective business manager who has executive level experience leading multi-disciplined teams in setting and achieving business goals.
Mr. Chamberlin is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer a LEED accredited Professional and a Certified Commissioning Professional. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management. Mr. Chamberlin is Past President of the Bay Area Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers and was a founding member of the Board of Advisors for the California Commissioning Collaborative. Mr. Chamberlin is the Past- President of the Building Commissioning Association’s Southwest chapter and, until recently, the Commissioning Curriculum Instructor for the UC Berkeley Extension.
Tom Riley, Partner, B.S.M.E., PE, LEED AP
Tom Riley is a seasoned professional in the energy services, software and commissioning industry. Most recently, he was Vice President of Energy Services for EnerNOC where he was responsible for delivering integrated energy services, demand response and commissioning products and services to EnerNOC’s customers. Prior to this, Mr. Riley cofounded and directed the business of Cogent Energy, Inc., a leading commissioning, energy consulting, and engineering firm providing services to institutional, commercial and industrial clients, and acquired by EnerNOC in 2009.
Mr. Riley has directed commissioning, energy engineering and project development activities of businesses since 1990. He has been providing energy consulting and project development services in the energy industry since 1984.
Mr. Riley is skilled in the development, commissioning, feasibility analysis, design, implementation and measurement & verification of energy efficiency projects and SaaS applications. His experience in energy projects includes government buildings, educational facilities, federal facilities, military bases, hospitals, correctional facilities, commercial buildings, laboratories, industrial facilities and data centers.
Mr. Riley is past chapter president of the Association of Energy Engineers and served two years on the California State University Board of Governors. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Riley is a registered professional mechanical engineer in the state of California and an accredited LEED professional.
George Botich, Vice President, Control Systems
Mr. Botich has been involved in design and construction of electrical systems for more than 35 years. In the past 20 years, he has focused on energy efficiency and automation for a variety of clients ranging from manufacturing to large commercial centers. His years of experience in the automation and power distribution industry have instrumental in delivering energy efficient designs for process controls, lighting and HVAC systems. Many of the projects have been focused on the Food and Beverage manufacturing segment.
Since 2009, Mr. Botich has been focused on Automated Demand Response systems within the state of California, where his experience with industrial controls platforms led to integrating more than 50 MW of Demand Response systems. The Demand Response systems were deployed in a variety of manufacturing facilities across the California utility territories.
In addition to Demand Response, Mr. Botich has spent the past 20 years deploying energy efficient control systems for industrial refrigeration systems and other process controls. He has been involved in the industrial refrigeration market and has been active in the associations for the industrial refrigeration world, especially ammonia refrigerant systems. He is a past president of the Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association, Los Angeles Chapter 2. He has presented talks for many of the energy and refrigeration associations including RETA, IIAR, ASHRAE, SCGC and SCE.
His experience brings Enpowered Solutions the ability to design and implement industrial automation systems for the manufacturing and distribution business segment.
